Información del proyecto
This year two important anniversaries coincide: 500 years of the
first trip around the Earth and 50 years of the first expedition to the
Moon.
Magellan´s circumnavigation trip and cultural heritage is
continually renewed to this day globally. The celebration of Magellan
and circumnavigation is also the recognition and appreciation of
science, scientific curiosity and knowledge.
This project offers us an opportunity for a broad reflection about the consequences of our "conquests" from then and now.
We
will take part in a series of intergenerational meetings through a
cooperative, plurilingual and interdisciplinar work among the member
countries. We will analyse the drastic changes that these conquests have
provoqued worldwide in our lifestyle, culture values, the environmental
impact...
We finally aim to propose small initiatives for a
sustainable development and alternatives to social and cultural
exclusion and the enormous asymmetries that characterize the current
globalization.
Objetivos
1. To motivate students to explore their personal and social values.
2. To help students to develop their social and linguistic skills.
3. To help students to reflect about theirs and others language and
culture, building virtual bridges of friendship and cooperation among the different participant countries.
4. To develop the students’ sense of responsibility to local, national
and global level.
5. To help the students to reflect about generational stereotypes and
to discover the richness of grandparents’ company, knowledge and
experience.
6. To improve the work in cooperative groups within the classroom in
attention to diversity and to strengthen the social relationships
among students.
7. To develop key competences in the students through an
interdisciplinary approach of teaching involving the subjects of
Foreign Language 1 (and 2, if it is the case), Language and
Literature, Sciences, Arts and Crafts, Music…
Proceso de trabajo
First term:
- A Google Drive Doc will be opened to the
teachers interested in the cooperative ellaboration of the calendar and
topics to develop.
- Penpal correspondance, videoconferences, videos,
and final productions using different TIC tools will be used to get
acquainted and become friends (pupils, teachers, schools, cities,
countries, food, culture...)
Second term: The different topics of
the project (sustainable development, job, life habits, progress…) will
be developed and investigated in a cooperative, interdisciplinar,
intergenerational and plurilingual way. Discussions among countries
about the documents shared will be implemented through the forums,
chatroom visits and videoconferences.
Third term:
Conclusions, a final product and an evaluation will be held.
- There will be a permanent communication among teachers through the tools provided by the Twinspace, and the Internet.
- The older students will be given a more participant role in the Twinspace.
Resultados esperados
1. The intergenerational meetings carried out along the project
and the cooperative sharing among the countries are expected to offer
positive results as regards:
a. the breaking of mutual stereotypes.
b. the weaving of a more solid social tissue in the neighbourhood
(if
the elder people belong to an institution nearby, such as a Day Stay
Center) and/or the family (if they are the pupils’ own grandparents).
c.
The building in the pupils of a more aware consciousness as regards
their responsibilities as future citizens in the new Europe.
2. The topics discussed through cooperative work in the classroom,
investigation, interviews and debates with elder people, and the
conclusions
achieved thereafter, will be displayed through final productions using
different apps and TICs and shared for mutual enrichment.
3. There will be a Twinspace where all the activities, tasks and
final productions such as a common ebook, videos, padlets, ppts,
songs, dessins, will be displayed.
20/02/2020 Our final product: Thank you
to all the members who are contributing so well to this cooperative
activity. This collaborative ppt is a tool to insert all the information
about the different points of our researches. We count on Maria Joao
and her team in Alhandra to eventually turn all this content into a
beautiful ebook!
We have created a Google Drive Document with a draft of the project
which proposes subjects, activities, a calendar... You have the
possibility to add your own ideas and suggestions to enrich the project
and you are also invited to vote the ones you would like to carry
out with your pupils. Eventually, the most voted activities will be the
ones implemented in the final project.
Let's create in a cooperative way our own project glossary. Every
country can add the words related to Magellan and Armstrong in their own
language and the rest are invited to translate them (Here is the link).
Some students have done a good job.
They have asked their grandparents if they knew Armstrong and if they
remembered the moment he stepped on the Moon.
And here we leave the memories.
The boys and girls of Donostia wish you a Merry Christmas
The first letters have just arrived to Seville. They come from
Romania and Italy. Thank you very much!! The pupils were so glad!! Mario
Ion, the boy on the left who is holding the letter from Romania, comes
from this country. When he took the touristic prospect in his hands he
was so excited...!! He translated it for the rest of us. It has been
great.
11/12/2019 The
pupils from England have finished our cards too! They are on their way.
We have also received about 4 in return so far. I have been recording
speaking exams for older students this week, so I haven't yet had the
opportunity to share the cards with our younger ones.
8/12/2019
The Christmas' cards from La Senia (Tarragona) are also prepared!
8/12/2019 After the preparation of the Christmas cards, the students of Donostia congratulate you on the holidays. Have a good holiday!
6/12/2019
We want to share with you some of our Christmas traditions.
Nous voulons partager avec vous une petite vidéo sur nos traditions de Noël en Espagne. Bonnes fêtes!!
6/12/2019
The first set of cards from England are ready to send!
From 50's to now, how our life has changed!
The pupils from San Sebastian have investigated about how life was in
times of their grandparents and here is the cooperative final product
of their research: https://pt.calameo.com/books/001912339e2ece7055f83
My pupils have been reading today the storyjumper book prepared by
the pupils in San Sebastián about the evolution in the inventions along
the 20th C. and they have written these feedback letters to them. We
hope you enjoy them.
Following Maria Salamagka's proposal from Greece to create a space where
children explain to each other why it is important to stay at home and
what they usually do as a rutine in these days of confinement, here I
introduce a padlet where some of my pupils have answered to that
initiative.

Do you remember the contest we talked to you about on the 13th of April?
Well we are glad to tell you that our student from sixth year Andrea
Plopeanu has won the Writing Contest "The First Circumnavigation around
the World" organized by the Nao Victoria Foundation in Spain to
commemorate the fifth centenary of the feat of Magellan and Elcano. As a prize, she and her classmates will be able to visit Nao Victoria, when
circumstances make it possible. Congratulations Andrea !!, and
congratulations also to the rest of our participants. Your drawings have
been published on the Facebook page of the Nao Victoria Foundation.
We have researched together about our impact in the environment. First,
we listed the problems and its consequences together. Then I created a
virtual place using the app Linoit. The pupils, from home, added photos taken from the Internet and some text, taken from their books but in
their own words, to explain those problems.
ANIMALS IN EXTINCTION IS A WORK CARRIED OUT WITHIN THE PROJECT OF ECOSYSTEMS BY THE STUDENTS OF ZUHAIZTI-SAN SABASTIÁN
The
students of San Sebastián are also studying Science in Ecosystems and
the environmental and human impact that occurs. It is a research project
to learn about some animals on our planet that are in danger of
extinction. This helps us to analyze that the legacy of fauna and flora
that existed at the time that Magellan and Elkano lived is not the same
that exists now on our planet. But that with environmental pollution and
the misuse of human resources, it is possible that many of the species
we have known do not exist in another 500 years. The eTwinning project
is part of the Project worked in this last quarter: THE ECOSYSTEMS.
Dear Carmen, The pupils in Seville have watched and enjoyed
your videos! Here are the comments by one of my pupils. They thank your
pupils and they say they have learnt a lot about some endangered
species!
Evaluation
Hello dear team, the time has finally arrived to evaluate the project in a collaborative way using a Google form!
Sergio
Barba Pérez, profesor del Colegio San José de Sevilla ha versionado la
canción "Dale la vuelta al mundo"
Los alumnos pertenecientes al proyecto "From Magellan to Armstrong: 500
years of adventure!" van a realizar una reflexión sobre lo que dice esta
preciosa canción.
